Summary	Transportation infrastructure is the basis of economic development for our country. However, transportation projects usually have huge costs and long construction periods. How to evaluate the economical benefits of these projects by a specific evaluation procedure is an important job for utilizing national resources effectively. Hence, the Institute of Transportation (IOT), MOTC, reviewed the manual of economic and finance evaluation published by the Council for Economic Planning and Development (CEPD) and checked the properties of transportation projects. Then, the IOT conducted “The study on the procedure for the economic analysis of transportation projects” and “The survey of vehicle operation costs and the promotion of a training program for the economic evaluation of transport projects” during 2007~2010. Based on the study results, the IOT proposed the “Handbook for the Economic Benefit Evaluation of Transportation Projects” with software. It is hoped that the handbook and software will provide relative agencies a good tool to conveniently conduct economic benefit evaluations of transportation projects.
