Summary | The objective of this project is to establish a network-level bridge management system (BMS) for the Central Government bridges administrations and other bridges administration bureaus. This system is a web-based and developed with Geographical Information System (GIS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) which can help the user to review the data of bridges by clicking the icon on GIS layers. Besides, this system can help users input the bridges’ inventory, inspection records and maintenance records data via the Graphical User Interface (GUI), and then users can print the records data sheets and calculate the retrofitting and maintenance cost. This system contains ten major modules: bridge inventory data module, bridge inspection record data module, data statistic module, maintenance record data module, maintenance cost estimation module, GIS module , bridge affair administration efficiency checking module, system parameter administration module, system administration module, and integrated decision-making module. All modules are designed to meet the different demands of the administration of bridge affair. To enhance the computer-aided decision-making ability, we also developed an integrated decision-making module. This module is designed to acquire the inspection and maintenance data. After applying mathematical algorithms and calculation, system can sort the retrofitting and maintenance actions’ orders. With the establishment of this system, we can help bridge administrations and bureaus to arrange their bridge maintenance strategies. This system will help them to manage their bridge affairs more efficiently and achieve the assurance of the bridges’ level of service and prolongations of their life. In addition to the development of the Bridge Management System, this study also covers training courses, workshops and the demonstration of this system. These operations are deigned to help familiarize users with this system, and introduce the new and advanced technologies related to bridge engineering to the participants. |
