| Summary | Taxis are the main paratransit tool of cities and are significantly affected by other public transportation and social economic developments, etc. In the project of “Standard criterion and implementation planning for new generation of taximeter” launched in 2014, the Bureau has already incorporated the function of saving passenger data of each trip into the new generation of taximeter. In addition, the installation of such new meters has been started since November 2015, and the operating data volume saved by more than 80,000 taxis nationwide each year is remarkable. The design of such enormous operating data storage and download mechanism and the question of how to apply data analysis to the industrial development in order increase driver profits are main topics for this research. In this research, an embedded data collection device developed is used to collect the operation data saved inside the new fare meters of taxis in Taipei in a relatively small scale. In addition, such data is used in the calculation of the taxi industry indices established in order to perform primary content analysis directed to the four main aspects and to determine the representative key index. Furthermore, based on the starting and destination coordinates of each trip collected, three application field analyses of the carpool route analysis, the hot-spot analysis and the operating area analysis are conducted, respectively. In the future, once the local taxi operating data is collected, the concerned authority is able to use the indices established in this research to understand the general status of the local industry and to utilize the analysis model developed for the three application fields in order to understand the local taxi operations models; consequently, industrial development or management strategies can be established and proposed correspondingly for guiding the direction of the industrial development. |
