Summary | Published in March 2004 IOT SERIAL No. 93-7-3253, 132 pp. Because of the rapid advances in progress of traffic engineering and management technologies, traffic engineers in the central and local governments should keep always update their professional knowledge to the road traffic problems they are facing. To meet this challenge, sufficient on-the-job training is needed. This project and its related works are the second-year of a five-year on-the-job traffic engineering training program, starting from January 1, 2002 and lasted till November 15, 2006. Major items and outcomes for the project include (1) collection and reviewing of previous experience in relevant Traffic Engineering Training Programs (2) planning of the present TE training program and the presentation of modern traffic engineering technologies by using our website (http://www.trafficwin.com/) which was constructed last year (3) implementation of an expert survey to the traffic engineering officials, university professors and chief engineers of several well-known engineering consultants for the recommendations of the lecturer list of the present TE training program and for the input of our lecturer database in the traffic engineering field (4) collecting processing and editing of comments and suggestions of the present TE training program collected from our trainees and trainers (5) re-structuring of structure and re-building of the existing website, Traffic Engineering and Management, by employing the NUKE WWW program language and the phpBB forum-based program language for long-term development (6) suggestions for future TE training programs gathered from invited scholars and experts to enhance the effects of the up-coming TE courses. Besides, the establishment of a national traffic engineering training education framework combined with another professional transportation knowledge bank have been done and presented to the Ministry of Transportation and Communication for their further consideration and even implementation. |
