Summary     This project aims to maintain an existing database, the International Air Transport Database (IATD), and to update its contained data inside. This year's maintenance project is based on the results of previous database updates and data analysis. The key focus of the work includes system and data updates and expansion, as well as data analysis services. The first half of the year primarily focuses on system and data updates and expansion, while the second half will address the key issues of this year through data analysis.
In terms of system and data updates and expansion, apart from conducting system hardware and software upgrades, we also continue to utilize Airport Information and Flightradar24 data retrieval to update the basic and operating data of 200 airports currently maintained in the database. At the same time, we will establish passenger origin and destination movement data primarily retrieved through IATA MarketIS, maintaining and updating the functionality and interface of the retrieval system to facilitate the querying and analysis of passenger movement data such as origin, destination, and transit for important airports.
The selected airports for subscription to IATA include Taoyuan Airport(IATA code: TPE) and other airports in Taiwan, Incheon Airport(ICN), Hong Kong International Airport(HKG), Narita Airport(NRT), Changi Airport (SIN), Shanghai Pudong Airport(PVG), Los Angeles International Airport(LAX), Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), Manila Airport(MNL ), Kuala Lumpur Airport(KUL), Ho Chi Minh City Airport(SGN), San Francisco Airport(SFO), Seattle Airport(SEA), Paris Charles de Gaulle(CDG) and Vienna Airports(VIE), etc. A total of 31 airports in 13 different countries or regions were retrieved. The forms of market records include the movement of origin and destination (O-D) and transferred passengers with Excel files.
Three topics have been conducted - "Analysis on roundtrip market between Southeast and North America before and after the COVID-19", "Analysis on origin-and-destination and transfer market between Taoyuan International Airport and Europe" and "Competition analysis on Taiwan’s international market between low-cost carriers and traditional airlines after the COVID-19".
