Summary | Owing to the egoistic managing concepts of the administration of each mode and the ineffective handling of the intermodal passenger services, the passengers usually feel inconvenient when they were engaged in the travel of using more than one mode. While the Ministry of Transportation and Communication (MOTC) is actively enhancing the capacity of the level of service for different transportation system, there is a primary need to conduct a study on the integration planning for the Intermodal passenger transportation system (IPTS). The project firstly reviewed the relevant reports and documents on IPTS. Then the principles of the planning and operations for IPTS as well as the performance evaluation hierarchy will be summarized. This will help in the analysis study of the demonstration project for mode integration in IPTS. The demonstration project comes from the program entitled (Transportation Nodes Improvements of Air, Sea, and Land Transportation System) and sponsored by the MOTC. Finally, the integration planning and improvement strategy for terminal transfer systems of ITPS is documented. Based on the findings, we draw a conclusion that the planning and implementation of IPTS should be centered on users’ need. Limited by financial and space constraints, the improvement of mode transfer information software system for people should come first than the rebuild/relocation for the terminal hardware facilities. The integration of improving the transfer information system, as well as the effectiveness of the information system should be strengthened. In addition, the comfort, fastness, and safety of IPTS must be targeted. Local governments, systems operators, and institutions of IPTS should work together to provide the best service to the public. |
