Summary | Published in February 2003 IOT SERIAL No.92-10-738,172pp. A neuro-fuzzy network model of forecasting typhoon waves was developed in this project. The present model consists of three parts. The first part is to set up a database for typhoon data and the corresponding swell conditions. The second part is to set up a database for typhoon data and the corresponding wind wave conditions. The database is used to promote the prediction capability of the neuro-fuzzy network model. The other part is to connect the typhoon waves to typhoon condition by using neuro-fuzzy network. The wave data were collected from 1998 to 2000 at Hwalien harbor. A comparison with observed wave height shows that the present model has high capability to predict wave height of typhoon waves. |
