Summary | Taiwan has a small area but with a large population. Therefore the electric power pipes, gas pipes and water pipes had been covered under ground. However the population centralized in metropolitan areas gradually, addition or replacement of the pipeline facilities often need to dig the road pavement. So it is easy to affect the road traffic and reduce the life of road pavement. At present, domestic road digging operation still needs many types of equipment and manhole cutting operation is used in a straight line cutting. The four corners of the residual traces of cutting will be the future damage to the origin of pavement. Therefore, there are still room for improvement in the efficiency of construction and backfill quality. After consider manholes will be covered under ground and pipeline unit will re-excavate them in the future may take the adverse impact on the pavement. So it’s very important to develop a small manhole cutting equipment to improve the efficiency of manhole cutting. This study has been through literature review and used the machines in the existing market to complete of the first generation of small manhole cutting equipment for prototype development and test. The road cutting operation around manholes can be completed within 40 minutes, and the range of cutting can be adjusted by the size of manholes. It is a semi-automatic method in cutting process and can reduce the workload of operators effectively. |
