Summary The Institute of Transportation (IOT) launched the “National Traffic Information Center " web service in November 2004. Until now, the IOT has assisted 23 city/county governments in Taiwan to join the real-time traffic information on-line reporting system. The sources of real-time traffic information includes traffic accident information reported by the Police Bureaus, road construction information reported by the Public Works Bureaus and Economic Development Bureaus, and the traffic signal failure and traffic jam conditions reported by the Transportation Bureaus. In addition, the "National Traffic Information Center" also integrates the traffic information from National Expressway Bureau and Directorate General of Highways to make the information more comprehensive.

  IOT implements this project to keep the "National Traffic Information Center" working. The achievements of this project are operating the "National Traffic Information Center", started collaboration with Police Radio Station in the development of RDS-TMC, and had launched RDS-TMC service in December, 2008. Until June 2009, there were 144 industry owners who applied for information usage and value-added units (including 44 broadcasters, five TV companies, 22 government units, 29 research units and 44 value-added companies), which extensively provides transportation, navigation, logistics, communication industries and government academic units with value-added usage.
