Author Wei-Shen Lai、Hsia Lee
Summary Maritime transportation is the most important way of the foreign trade in Taiwan. The maritime industry also plays an important role in the development of national defense, people's livelihood and overall economy as well. In order to develop the maritime industry, the government has formulated relevant policies including: incentives of maritime subsidy and tax incentive, differential treatment of national flagged ship, industrial support programs, reform of port organization, and supplements of legal specifications and social responsibility requirement. However by checking the effective implementation, it has not reached the goal. This study analyzes our recent years' maritime transportation policies and decree measures, and collects statistical data to understand the performance of the implementation. By the questionnaire survey, we can understand the views and suggestions on the current maritime policy. The research results can provide reference for the government to follow up the relevant policies and measures.
