Title The Taiwan Area Integrated Transportation Systems Plan-Traffic Surveys and Travel Characteristics Analyses
Dept Transportation Planning and Land Transport Division
Year 1996
Summary

A transportation systems plan is a continuous project whose contents need to be reviewed and updated periodically. In the Taiwan area, this need is more manifested because of the rapid economic growth over the past decade and the evolution of new transport technologies, which do have significant impacts on the quality and structure of Taiwan’s transportation systems. Therefore, it is urgently necessary to update the existing Taiwan Area Integrated Transportation System Plans now. Actually, the third phase planning is a continuation of the past two Taiwan Area Transportation System Plans. In this study, performing the traffic surveys and travel characteristics analyses, and developing both passenger and freight origin-destination (OD) tables to build base year socio-economic and transport data for the development and validation of the transportation planning models are the major focus, which are the pioneer tasks in the overall planning process of the third phase work.
