Title Current Fatigue Monitoring Technologies For Drivers, An International Survey
Dept Transportation Safety Division
Year 2022
Month 5
Price 250
Summary

According to multiple research studies, fatigue driving is a major cause of road accidents. There are about 91,000 cases of traffic accidents reported in 2017. According to the estimate of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the cases of traffic accidents were related to fatigue, with 50,000 people injured and 800 people killed in 2017, as well as a total societal cost of
$109 billion US dollars in 2016. Nevertheless, this knowledge may be just the tip of an iceberg because the complex factors of traffic accidents associated with fatigue driving remains elusive.
In-vehicle monitoring of driver drowsiness and attention is crucial to reducing the risk of fatigue driving. Various types of fatigue driving detection systems on the market have been introduced. In order to understand the application of fatigue driving detection technology products to improve or explore the application of fatigue driving, so as to reduce the risk of fatigue driving,
this project discusses the measurement of fatigue driving through domestic and foreign data collection and literature review. The correlation between scientific data and fatigue of indicators such as blood oxygen concentration, inventory of existing domestic and foreign fatigue measurement indicators and on-board fatigue detection equipment, as well as collection of domestic and foreign practical application cases, analysis and comparison. Relevant data collection and compilation results can provide reference for public and private transportation agencies to improve safety management operations related to fatigue driving.
