Summary
The Institute of Transportation (IOT), MOTC, has developed a “Decision Support System for the Scanning of Public Transit Service Gaps”(Hereinafter referred to as "the System (DSS)"), which is based on the Public Transport data eXchange (PTX) platform and integrates Geographic Information System (GIS), population distribution data, bus operation data and socio-economic data to carry out
value-added applications, which provides functions for calculating multiple evaluation indicators automatically and producing analysis charts. It can assist the competent authorities to objectively weigh the bus service gaps and to assess the effects of the adjustment of transportation resources allocation, so they can overcome the management blind spots caused by insufficient information or relying on empirical judgments in the past. As of the end of 2020, IOT has authorized 19 County and City Governments and 6 Regional Transportation Development Research Centers to use the System (DSS) to conduct case analysis, and practice the application of R&D results.
This report is for the second year of the project “Maintenance, Functional Enhancement and Education Training of the Decision Support System for the Scanning of Public Transit Service Gaps”, mainly based on the results of the first year of the project, to continue the functional optimization for the System (DSS), and improve the analysis of household accessibility and mobility, to enhance the
application value of the System, in order to transfer the maintenance of the system to the Directorate General of Highways (DGH),MOTC, in 2021. Furthermore, the second year of the project organizes six sessions of education training courses to teach users how to operate the System (DSS) in order to expand the effectiveness of promotion.
