Summary

The Kaohsiung MaaS demonstration project promoted by the IOT was officially launched on September 28,2018, becoming the first MaaS service demonstration zone in Asia. The public can check and use alltransportation services in Kaohsiung through a smartphone app and all-in-one card ticket, including Kaohsiung MRT, urban buses from seven companies, highway passenger transportation, light rail, ferries, shared bicycles, and taxis. The second phase of the project expanded services to include ibon pass card and LINE Pay, electronic card payment, the issuance of 7-day student tickets, the introduction of shared SWAP e-scooters, the establishment of a preferential serial number management system, and many other services. Through various marketing measures such as cooperation with other industries such as Taroko Park to promote MeN Go campus
talents, giving free mango ice when buying MeN Go and other activities, the number of members and the number of monthly pass users has grown steadily. It has become a model of MaaS promotion in Asia, and it has won the recognition of the 2019 Smart City Innovation Award. It has also attracted Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Japan's Kumamoto University, NTA (Nippon Travel Agency) and other units to come for exchange. Based on the results of the first and second phases of the project, the project will continue to expand various services, including the addition of shared scooters, the expansion of the taxi fleet size, the integration of toll
parking lots around MRT stations, the inclusion of Taiwan Railways and virtual ticket service, in order to attract more private transportation users and intercity transportation passengers to use MaaS services. In addition, to serve tourist groups, tourist ticket cards will be issued so that more foreign tourists can enjoy Kaohsiung MaaS cross-carriage services, achieving the goal of "With MeN Go in hand, movement is unlimited". Finally, this successful experience was transferred to the Kaohsiung City Government Transportation Bureau for continued operation and to assist in the establishment of a sustainable business model, hoping to replicate this service in other counties and cities in Taiwan to establish a new paradigm for public transportation.
