Title Maintenance, Functional Enhancement and Education Training of the Decision Support System for the Scanning of Public Transit Service Gaps (1/2)
Dept Transportation Operations and Management Division
Year 2021
Month 7
Price 400
Summary

The Institute of Transportation (IOT), MOTC, has developed a “Decision Support System for the Scanning of Public Transit Service Gaps” (DSS), which is based on the Public Transport data eXchange (PTX) platform and integrates GIS, population distribution, bus operation data and socio-economic data to carry out value-added applications. DSS, which offers functions for calculating multiple evaluation indicators automatically and producing analysis charts, can assist government authorities to objectively recognize bus service gaps and to assess the effects of the adjustment of transportation resources allocation. It can effectively eliminate the blind spots
of government authorities who in the past relied on rules of thumb due to insufficient information. As of the end of 2020, IOT has approved 19 county and city governments and 6 Regional Transportation Development Research Centers to use DSS to analyze practical cases, putting the results of research to use.
The purpose of this project is to keep enhancing the application value and the stability of DSS in order to transfer the maintenance ofthe system to the Directorate General of Highways (DGH), MOTC, in 2021. The main tasks of this project in the first year included
1) maintaining DSS, (2) adjusting the functions or interface of DSS, (3) creating three new functions which offer householdaccessibility analysis, watermarks on the analysis charts, and the reporting of application results, and (4) evaluating the feasibility of transferring the electronic ticket data analysis function in DSS to the Traffic Data Convergence Platform established by InformationManagement Center, MOTC.
