Title A Discussion on the Amendments to and Revision of the Harbor Structure Design Criteria
Dept Transportation Technology Research Center
Year 2020
Month 2
Price 300
Summary       The Design Criterion of Harbor Structures - Part I: Breakwater Design Criteria and Descriptions and Part II: Warf
Design Criteria and Descriptions, promulgated by MOTC in 1996 and 1997 respectively, has spanned over a period of two
decades. During the period, some part of provisions had been revised to cope with the Chi-Chi earthquake in 2000, while
other revisions on engineering materials of concrete and steel had also been made in 2010 and 2013, for MOTC to
promulgate and implement. With the changes of time and space, it’s become obvious that further review and revision are
required in order to meet the needs of planning and maintenance management of the domestic harbor development and
construction.
Based on the outcome of the 2007 Design Criteria of Harbor Structures (1st ed.) by the Institute, the project aims to
collect related criteria and research results both at home and overseas, to complete the initial review in accordance with the
format stipulated by MOTC as the references for secondary review, as well as promulgation and implementation.
      Benefits of research results:
To provide the revised design criteria of harbor structure as a basis for the MOTC’s secondary review.
Applications:
After promulgation, the revised criteria will be used to improve the structural performance and the transportation safety
requirements of Maritime and Port Bureau, Taiwan International Ports Corporation (T.I.P.C), county governments,
engineering consultants and other related agencies.
