Title A Study on the Integration of All Levels of Transportation Planning Model Data
Dept Transportation Planning and Land Transport Division
Year 2019
Month 11
Price 360
Summary Transportation demand is one kind of derived demand and is related to the population distribution as well as social and economic development. In order to plan and evaluate the demand for transportation infrastructure, it is necessary to construct a transportation demand model to reveal such demand in the future. Transportation demand models in different scales and levels are constructed by central as well as local government for the planning and construction of transportation infrastructures.
To promote the integration and exchange of the basic information for transportation demand models (such as road networks, traffic zones, and such spatial information), this study proposes a uniform format of data to be used in transportation planning software. To this end codes were created for road networks and traffic zones and integrated into the “Manual for Data Format Exchanging.” For the data collecting phase of transportation planning, this study
proposes a “Manual for Trip Characteristics Surveys.” This manual provides guidelines for methods of survey, questionnaire design, and examination of data, so that data definitions, formats and results of transportation planning models conducted by different authorities can be consistent. As a result, the data could be exchanged across transportation planning models to save the resource for conducting survey or building transportation planning models.
This study has cooperated and discussed with agencies under the Ministry of Transportation and Communication, Construction and Planning Agency under the Ministry of the Interior, local governments, as well as consulting agencies to integrate transportation demand models in different scales and develop common questionnaires and data formats to facilitate the future cross-agency, cross-platform integration and sharing of resources to promote policy and research.
