| Summary | Traffic data analysis is a decision support tools for traffic and transportation management.Particularly, the results of traffic data analysis can be used to examine the service gap of public transportation, which provides directions to the authorities and operators for improving public transportation services. Based on the previous analysis results on electronic ticketing and cellularbased vehicle probe (CVP) data of the Institute of Transportation, MOTC, this study integrates bus dynamic information system data, electronic ticketing data, and CVP data to improve the performances of the algorithms and the modules on trip origin-destination estimation, corresponding mode usage and trip data analysis and visualization. We conducted in-depth research in Kaohsiung and Hualian to investigate the travel demand of university students and tourists, respectively. Service improvement suggestions are presented to the existing shuttle transportation systems of the universities in Kaohsiung and of the tourists who may possibly use public transportation in Hualian. In terms of school trips, this research used signal data from Chunghwa Telecom to map out the spatial distribution of school trip demand and study whether current public transport meets the demand. With regard to tourism and travel, this research used data science methods to study the relationships among several tourist attractions and present proposals for improving public transport. |
