       The Institute of Transportation, MOTC hosted the first policy theme meeting of the Transportation Working Group, TPT-WG-Intermodal and Intelligent Transportation Systems Experts Group, IIEG meeting on July 6 via video conferencing on Taiwan’s behalf. Over 100 representatives from 17 economies, including government agency representatives, experts, scholars, and industries from Mobility as a Service, MaaS related fields were invited to sign up to attend the meeting. The best practices and challenges of integrated transportation services, as well as possible contribution on climate change, social fairness and other issues through MaaS applications were jointly shared and promoted. The meeting came to a satisfactory close. 
       According to the Institute of Transportation, MOTC, with data as the key to MaaS promotion, it is necessary to analyze door-to-door trip planning, reservation, ticketing, and payment data in order to meet the travel needs of every traveler. At the meeting, Division Director Takeshi Niwa of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Japan, Hugues CHATAING of Next Generation Mobility Team, Global Railway PJ at Odakyu Electric Railway Co. Ltd., and senior technician (current meeting host) from Office of Science and Technology Advisors, MOTC, Taiwan were specially invited to explore the MaaS implementation plans for the economies and locality at different levels based on the perspective of public and private sectors. Dr. Yongkook Kim from the Korea Transport Institute shared on MaaS bigdata platform applications: vaccine and mask inventory in real time searched through the MaaS App and the planning of trips to fully stocked stations. In view of the integrated payment system as an important factor contributing to MaaS development, the Institute of Transportation, MOTC specially invited Director Gwo-Wei Torng from the Innovative Mobility Office of the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) and Professor Chang Hsueh-Kung from NTU Advanced Public Tranpsotation Research Center (APTRC) to conduct in-depth analyses on the importance of the integrated payment system on intermodal and intelligent transportation and mobile services. In addition, at the meeting, the APEC women having taken part in Women in Transport, Chairman Adrianne Malasky, and Jason Taylor (manager/policy consultant) from Canada Department of Transportation’s Office of International Relations also personally attended the meeting to share on how to level the urban-rural gap through gender tolerance and social fairness in the MaaS transportation promotion system. 
       According to the Institute of Transportation, MOTC, Taiwan’s holding of transportation work group IIEG’s first policy theme meeting through the support of various APEC economies is an indication of MaaS promotion results have been well recognized. Additionally, a consensus on many items was reached after a discussion at the meeting. They include: the APEC transportation work group encouraging the various economies to continue promoting MaaS related applications, supporting related follow-up research plans, and promoting APEC economies’ various related competency building and experience exchange.
