IOT credited for its efforts in assisting and promoting disaster prevention and relief technology applications

The Institute of Transport (IOT), MOTC has been credited for its efforts in promoting "the Executive Yuan's disaster prevention and relief technology application phase 2 (2015-2018) program." The                Executive Yuan is commending the outstanding units in implementing the program by holding a wrap-up presentation ceremony at the CPC Building today (the 28th.). Mr. Chen Chi-mai, Vice Premier, commended award-winning units in the ceremony and Mr. Lin Chi-kuo, Chief of IOT, attended and received the award.
      The foci worked on by IOT in recent years are: "Port area tsunami flooding simula-tion," "Coastal and offshore weather simulation system R&D," "Coastal motorway flood-ing and early warning system," "Motorway early disaster prevention and relief decision making support system," "Bridge management module maintenance," "Motorway soil side slope slide's wireless sensor network monitoring system R&D" and other disaster prevention innovative technology. This is aimed to align basic research with new modules and information and communication technology into disaster prevention application to make the best of IOT's disaster prevention research capacity to integrate and develop smart transportation disaster prevention application by aligning application technology solutions with solution platform operation mechanism and combining disaster prevention relevant environment information, technology and theory developed by incumbent entities and academic institutes.
