Purpose | Human factors are the primary contributing factors to traffic accidents. In particular, driving behaviors, which consist of a series of complicated tasks and mind activities, are affected by internal and external factors such as workload and driving experience. Driver mistakes may occur in any step of the driving process, including perception, comprehension, projection, judgment/decision, and performance of actions. While education is one of the main approaches to enhancing traffic safety, the project of year 2015 deduced human errors for several main themes of traffic accident risks on the basis of the theory of situational awareness. The deduced errors were then used as the basis for developing safety education materials for topics including “yield the right-of-way”, and “left, right, and hook turns in intersections”. A preliminary learning blueprint for motorcyclist education was proposed. |
